I do.
I have three 14 string guitars.
An Excel, a Williams and a Sho-Bud.
I also have two 10 strings, a Fender and a Fingertip, and Gene Field's 12 & 8 string MCI.
I love 14 and still I will not recommend it.
In my experience, more people that approach 14 strings find more reasons not to continue than reasons to continue with 14 strings.
…………its a personal thang, like recommending someone will like escargot. I just won’t do that.

Al Vescovo and Bill Stafford both play them.
Two great players.

I have a Deckley S14U. While I do not use it as my primary axe, I love playing it at home in the music room.

I have a late 80s Sierra 14-string universal. It sounds great and does a lot. Like Bruce, for me it's more of a laboratory instrument right now. I mainly play an S12U out - the difference is about 15-20 pounds. |

Have been a 14 string keyless addict for going on 3 decades. Got STAFFORDized back then. Now have added extended neck, integrated changer/tuner, and other stuff...more to come...but you knew that by now.
I have a bunch of Sierra Session series 14s, some still in the shipping carton,...time to unload some of my excess gear (have the BEAST, don't need anything else)...anyone interested? E-mail direct. |

WOW!! Has it really been that long Ed? Time sure flies when you are having fun I suppose.
Folks, those Sierras Ed has are in the case new and all are first class instruments. Bargain at whatever price.

Glenn Suchan played one quite some time back when he was on the road with Kevin Fowler, IIRC

As Michael Garnett stated, I've owned and played a Sierra S14. It had Bill Stafford's copedant which I think is absolutely, wonderful. Especially on a Sierra with the change-lok ergonomics which allow the Sierra S14 guitar to be played as if it were a D14!! Mr. Stafford's copedant is incredibly comprehensive. Country, swing, werstern swing, jazz, show tunes. His 14-string copedant will do it all! The great thing is it's based on the traditional E9 and C6 copedants with few of Bill's personal ideas thrown in.
Dan, check with Mr. Stafford and see if you don't agree.
Keep on pickin'!
