Steel Picking

For those that may not have discovered there is an exceptional set of videos on You Tube by Aaron.

Search " steel picking" on youtube for some great licks, intros and general pedal steel instruction.

For a nominal fee there is an associated Patreon site that provides tab and backing tracks .

Excellent instruction that I have found helpfull on my long journey to play the pedal steel.

Tommy

I agree...new material about every week that is great for many levels of player.

Aaron demonstrates the material . then provides step by step instruction.......great for beginners or intermediate players .

Having the tabs and tracks available really allows "bedroom pickers" like me to make some nice music.

Thanks Aaron for all you do

Mike

I love Aaron's lessons and have learned a lot from them. The topics that he covers are extremely useful for the beginner/intermediate and his explanations are very complete. I really like that he goes slow enough that I don't miss anything because I like to transcribe them myself (I think I learn more doing that than just d'loading an already completed tab).

I'd recommend anyone interested in youtube pedal steel instruction to check him out, his lessons are a fantastic resource Winking

His "steel picking" videos on youtube are really top-notch, and there's a TON of them. My favorite one, Playing Fills Over Country Songs, is a beautiful 8 bar exercise I use as a demo piece all the time.

Aaron takes the time to spell out some really tasteful applications of theory here, give it a look!

Aaron Marshall -

As a long time viewer & fan, Your gracious contributions to the Steel Guitar Community do not go unnoticed.
Thanks for the varied array of topics (E9th and C6th), and professional manner & style of each presented topic.

Question for you:
Does your YouTube "Home Page" include a listing of all E9th and C6th videos that you've posted?
I'd like to make sure that I haven't missed any!

Great Job.

Regards,
Ron Funk

Hello Ron,

Thanks for watching the channel and for your kind words.

Unfortunately we do not have the videos divided between E9th and C6th. We do have a playlist that has the majority of our video lessons on it. That list can be found on our main YouTube page. Just go to the playlist section of youtube.com/steelpicking.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Thanks again and Keep Picking,

Aaron

Pedal steel mentor Aaron Marshall has the patience of Job, the ability to remain patient and to do what he thinks he should do despite complexities. Jus sayin.

BTW, anyone have a lead on where I can get a "small" chromed diamond cover plate for a 50's Stringmaster T8?
Mahalo!

Aaron, it was a real pleasure meeting you at the Dallas show 2 years ago. I love your channel, and urge all my Skype students to check it out. The quality is steadily improving, and I know doing decent quality videos takes time and effort. Thanks for all you and your sons do! --- Professor Twang / John McClung.

P.S. What is your background, life story?
