If you don't mind opinion, I would say it sounds like lap steel. There is a part which sounds like the notes in quick succession one would get with a bullet bar. |

It sounds like a lap steel to me, and though it isn't broken down by who plays what on each song, the song in question is Covered Wagon from the Miranda Lambert album The Weight of These Wings, released in 2016.
Fellow forumite Spencer Cullum is credited on the album for steel guitar and lap steel.
Maybe Spencer will chip in and contribute to the conversation - that is if he knew the conversation existed. Joachim, it would be a good idea to edit the thread title to include the recording artist and name of the song. _________________ Mark |

If wikipedia is to be believed, the only credit for anything "slide-like" is the forum's own Spencer Cullum on steel/lap-steel. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Weight_of_These_Wings
IMO, there is no intrinsic problem playing this solo on either steel or slide guitar.
edit - I was obviously typing as Mark posted. I also agree on editing the title so people know what you're talking about. |

For sure a steel on the studio recording. Why she does not have a steel with appearances, up for discussion. |

Spencer is on PSG in that video Bill posted. Behind the monitor. You can see the legs & headstock to right of monitor and his head above it right at the beginning of the video. As for why he's not playing the steel/slide part, who knows? |

Chris you're spot on. You have the eyes of a steel player. |
