What brand was your first pedal steel. I am not refering to home made pedals, but a guitar manufactured with pedals. Mine was a Fender 1000. Jody.

Mine was an old Wheeler D/10, If my memory serves me right it had 6 pedals, and no knees. Fooled with it a while then through it in the closet until I decided to sell it!
Hmmm, 1973 I think.

I had a 4 neck Fender that Shot Jackson put two pedals on. It changed the E9th to a A6th, two strings on one pedal and three on the other, no chromatics of course, It was 1955. Then came the Fender 1000 about 4 years later.
I wish I could find that Fender Pro amp I had back then. One tone control and two volumes, what a great tone for that era.

Here we go again, but; I'll play it safe by saying it was ‘one of the first six’ Sho-Buds built under the Sho-Bud name in 1957! A D–8 with 5-Pedals. I won't claim that it was #3, even though that is what Shot told me! It really isn't important anyway! But, you can see what it looked like in ’62; about 2-yrs. after I had it converted to a D-9 with 6 pedals!

Mine was a ShoBud 'Baldwin' Crossover model D-10, the crossover part had broken, probably long before I bought it. It was hooked up with 3 of the pedals on E9th [ABC] and the one lever lowered both E's to Eb. The other 3 pedals were standard pedal 5, 6 & 7 of the C6th & the lever lowered the 3rd string C to B. The case was made of some kind of souped up cardboard & was not very good. the endplates were black & the neck was all wood, no metal block around the pickup. Kind of wish I had it back!!

Mine was a Pedalmaster built by Leroy Prine in Ft. Smith Arkansas. It was a double 9 string with 6 floor pedals.

I wonder what that guitar weighed. I never could pick it up.

Zane Beck S-10, 2 knee levers 3 pedals. It was red (plastic cover over the entire top of guitar). I wanted to play so bad, I traded a 425.00 hat for that guitar, didn't have the cash to buy one at that time.

After I had for about 2 months, I ripped off the red plastic, and had it shot with a high gloss black laquer, turned out really nice. Then I hit a good lick at work, and was able to upgrade to my current GFI D-10, Birdseye Maple, trimmed in powdercoat Royal Blue.

A Fender student model with 10 strings and 1 knee. It was a Maverick dressed up in black tolex and a Fender amp logo. Awful instrument.

Now, like Russ, I play a 400; but with 8 pedals and 2 knees. An abbreviated universal setup - very versatile and fantastic tone.

My first was a Pedalmaster built by LeRoy Prine in Fort Smith, AR. originally a D9 later changed to a D10. I lived one block from LeRoy and helped him build the early Pedalmasters. Then came the BMI built by Zane Beck.

Mine was a Fender 800(2 - 8 string necks?) I paid $150 for it, don't remember how many pedals and knees as I soon sold it and bought a D-10 Sho-Bud Professional with 8 & 4.

MSA S-10. Got it home, sat down to it with Winnie's book, and realized I was about to climb Mount Everest. The most un-intuitive thing I had ever encountered...
