I need to replace my Peavey 15" BWs for my Walker Stereo Steel rig.
Replacing the speakers with new BWs is an option, but I want to explore the many new speaker choices since I bought this rig in the '90s
Does anyone know if the Peavey basket kits are for bass or steel speakers? Is it worth it?
Opinions on Eminence? Is there a noticeable difference between Travis Toy and non-Travis Toy speakers. Which are warmer?
Telonics?
I will be at the Texas steel guitar jamboree and am hoping these vendors will be there with product.
Thanks!

A guy at our monthly steel jam replaced the original Peavey's in his Walker stereo steel with Eminence EPS-15C's a couple years ago. He is happy with the sound and the less weight.

I don't have any experience with any of the new neo speakers, but concerning BW replacement baskets, the proper part is 1501-4. I don't think any of the other model BW baskets will make you happy. I know that Peavey is using the 1501 in their new Session steel amps, but I dunno if the basket is available separately anymore. Perhaps a complete new neo mag BW 1501?

Mike Brown can probably tell us.

Hey Wayne. Just happened to see this post. Come see me in Dallas, and we can talk about speakers. I’ll be hanging in the MSA room a bunch. I’ll have a few speakers with me as well.

To answer your question though...my TT model speakers were designed by me over a very lengthy period of time. They have almost nothing in common with the EPS or Telonics variants, which are nearly identical, and I never cared for. That was a big reason why Eminence approached me to help them design a NEO speaker that actually sounded like a traditional magnet design. It had never been done. They’re now using some of the techniques that were discovered in the development of my speakers, in quite a few other models in their line.

I have a JBL- D 130 in one of my Stereo Steel cabinets and a TT-12 in the other cabinet. I prefer the JBL.
