Offering this beautiful 8-string lap steel for sale. I haven't had the time to devote to learning steel properly, despite my best intentions, so I'd like to send this wonderful instrument along to a new home.
It's built from solid mahogany, I believe 3" thick with a two-piece body. George L pickup, brass nut & saddle, locking Sperzel tuners. Was set up in June and sounds fantastic. Currently tuned to (F/G)ACEgace, but I believe the gauges are such that you could swap in an E13 set without having to reslot the nut or anything. Comes with a flight case (36" rifle case) that is brand new.
It's never been played out of the house (smoke-free, if that matters to you), or subjected to any unkindness. The only blemish is a maybe-2mm chip on the edge of the lower bout, pictured below.
I got a great deal on this from the original owner, so I'll try to give you one as well. That said, I do really need the funds at the moment, so please no low-balls. Asking $700600 OBO.

I believe the luthier's name is Tony Nagy. Largely seems to build bass guitars these days, and if I remember correctly used to work for National? As an amateur woodworker & aspiring luthier myself, I can testify that he's very good at his job! |

Do I hear $650? Getting down into Black Friday territory on a mahogany & brass tone machine! Endless sustain from this fella. |

It's not the lightest ever, that being the disadvantage of 2 1/2" mahogany. It's perfectly comfortable on my lap, though I've mostly had it on a keyboard stand as pictured. I can weigh it for you if you want an exact #. |

Out of curiosity, at what price *would* people want this? Seems like a good deal already, but as it's just sitting here it couldn't hurt to get a sense of how large a loss I'd have to take to move it along. |

Someone asked for a photo of the case, see below. I got it on Amazon for I think around $80-90, it's sturdy enough I'd be comfortable checking it on an airplane.
Since my previous post seems to have stimulated a bunch of interest, I just want to mention that while it's initial listing price here was $700, that was already a discount for the forum - it started on Reverb @ $850. |
