My Revelation has been sounding a little tired these days,,just not the tone I was looking for. So in looking at the tubes installed, I have a Mullard and a couple of stock Chinese tubes installed ? So I called a friend of mine who does some work on Amps. Etc & asked if he might have some NOS tubes around. He said he has a large box of used tubes I was free to go through.
In going through the box of tubes, I could not believe how many RCA 12ax7 tubes I found. So I picked out 3 RCAs & he tested them & all tested great. So now the big question,,,,how much $$ ?
He said how about $15 each,,,I couldnt get my wallet out quick enough !
After installing them in the Rev. all I can say is WOW!! My Rev. came to life & I love the tone Im getting.

Think I will pick up a few more RCAs from him Very Happy

WOW! Nice score.

I've been happy to pay $35+ for a single RCA in the past. And I know some people pay way more for a tested NOS RCA.

And great move. I find that RCA's are my favorite preamp tubes in our steel guitar preamps and the Black Box. They have a high-treble smoothness that really makes them shine on pedal steel guitar. Plus they'll probably last forever.

Richard, I could sure go for some of those to use in my Sarno Tonic preamp, in case you decide to share the wealth here on the Forum!
