Has anyone installed the Doubleshot on an older '80s vintage OMI instrument? Or would it be lipstick on a pig, so to speak.

Given the OMI's narrower string spacing at the nut, as compared to a Beard, would the roller nut assembly work alright?

Does the Doubleshot tailpiece assembly require additional drilling, to either the body or the coverplate, or does it install using the existing hole from the standard tailpiece?

Would installation of the Doubleshot be considered a permanent install, or could it easily and practically be moved from one instrument to another?

For the life of me I can't recall any experience with an OMI/Double Shot install.

I'd call Beard at 301-733-8271 and see what they have to say, especially at the nut.

Those are skinny necks compared to contemporary builds. I do know that when setting up an OMI to "modern" spacing strings 1 & 6 overhang a tiny bit. You do get used to it in short order.

I've made flared nuts for several older reso guitars in order to provide wider string spacing at the headstock. Once you've done it you wonder how you lived without it.

The Hipshot Doubleshot either comes with, or recommends to buy, their roller nut, which facilitates the constant movement of the strings over the nut, exactly like our pedal steels.
So it may be a moot point, as you need as little friction as possible to avoid retuning everytime you flip the lever.
