Has anyone used bronze Dobro strings on a lap steel? I have an old beater lap steel that I would like to use with an EQ to simulate a dobro sound and wonder if the bronze strings would work better than nickle strings.

If they're Phos/Bronze strings may not have enough magnetic properties to drive the mag pickup.

The Lace dobro pickup is designed for PB strings. If not the Lace then nickel wound is the preferred string for other dobro mag pickups.

That being said, the PB strings may work well enough for you. It's a $6.00 experiment.

Thanks guys. It's probably best to stick with nickel.
