Hi folks,
Has anyone used the hybrid circuit peavey classic VT 50 amp combo for PSG ?
I may be considering one for guitar and wondered if it is a good platform for PSG.
Thanks for looking. |

I get confused by the (seemingly) numerous versions with similar names. I've got a VT classic with two 6L6 power amp tubes, solid state preamp. Has an onboard phaser.
I found it adequate to leave in a rehearsal space for band practice -- a luxury to not have to carry an amp. But it is difficult to dial in tone for general steel use. Not terrible, but a very narrow range of ok steel sound. I could make it work for me if I had to but fortunately I don't have to (because I've got other good amps).
My experience, my opinion. |

I have the Peavey Heritage which is a 4 tube power amp and transistor preamp. Big loud and heavyweight. Great for guitar but I couldn't get a good sound dialed in for pedal steel. It's Scorpion speakers just don't do it for steel. Maybe a swap will get different results. Your tastes may vary. |
