OK, Texas Honky Tonkers, here's some more great steel from Tommy Detamore. "Pass Me The Wine" is off Weldon Henson's 2011 CD "One Heart's Gone". I started out tabbing the break and then thought there are so many great fills and licks in this tune, I'll do the whole thing. The triplet "ladder" going up the neck to kick off the break is classic TD. Hope it's close, Tommy
If you like traditional country and haven't discovered Weldon Henson yet, go for it. Tommy plays on 3 tunes on this CD while Ricky Davis plays on the other 8. Ricky also handles the steel playing for Weldon live these days and is on steel for his 2 latest CD's. This is the good stuff
Questions, comments, and corrections always welcome.

Thank you so much! We hired Tommy to play on one of our songs a little while back before I started playing steel myself. I love his playing...this will be great to learn from.
Thanks again!

Novice question. Do you think Tommy is a pick or palm blocker? My poor ears hear palm. _________________ GFI Expo S-10 3x5

Thank you for the nice comments, guys.
Jay: I went right to the man himself with your blocking question. Tommy was totally non-committal and said he uses both palm and pick blocking |

That's what I find myself doing. Glad I learned (am learning) both, because palm blocking didn't come naturally. Also, I can't get pick blocking to work for me in every situation. _________________ GFI Expo S-10 3x5
