Topic: MSA Classic S10, what year? |

I would like some help with dating my MSA. It's a S10 Classic and has serial # 1C 3521.
I think it's an late 70's model but not in any way sure... |

I have a MSA Classic SN 1C2190 built Mar. 25, 1974 so it is a later model than that.
These are good guitars. |

Mathias....MSA production records indicate serial number 1C-3521 as being a black single 10 which left the factory with 5 pedals and 4 knee levers.
It's original destination was CMI who was the MSA distributor at the time. They sold it to a music store, and thats where our tracking ends. Your guitar was born September 30th 1974.

Wow, thank you Reece for that detailed info!
When I bought the guitar it had three pedals and three knees (plus a homemade bastard knee lever) but I have seen marks in the pedalrack that indicates five pedals. I thought at least one or two pedals had been added during the guitars life but it is very interesting to hear that it was born that way!
Is it possible to tell or guess what copedant the guitar had when it left the factory?
My plans are to add a correct LKR knee with parts from Wayne Link, and also add one LKV, so it will be 3+5. Would be nice to find parts for rebuilding it as it originaly was set up though.
I'm happy to be a part of the MSA family, really good guitars!
Paul: Do you have any pics of yours? How is it set up?

Paul, my Clasic S10 4x5 was SN 2196. It's been missing since January 1984. Still looking for it.

according to the owners manual the stock copedant on the S10 Classic has P4 as a Eb lower to D , P5 was G# (6) raise to A.
The RKR lowers the E's RKL raises the E' s
LKL raises F3 to G and LKR lowers Eb to D/C# and D to C#.
Bill Hatcher has a PDF file of the manual on his website.
My S10 Classic is serial #1C-2013. I think, like yours, it shipped to CMI since I bought it from a retail dealer in Phila.

Bo B....Just for the record, your guitar serial number 1C-2013 was born on February 13th 1974.
Doug C....Your guitar serial number 1C-1086 shows to be a rosewood single 10 which left the factory with 5 pedals and 4 knee levers. It originally went to our distributor located in Chicago. You guitar was born on Octomer 12th 1973.
It's wonderful to know so many MSA guitars found great homes and have proud owners. |

| Reese I worked in the Chicago area for about 6 months in 2000. I found my MSA in a music store in Merrillville, IN just south of Chicago. The owner of the store had used it for many years and had it for sale. I cleaned it up and it made a beautiful guitar. I sent you a picture to post on the MSA website. |
