Sorry if this is confusing........
I purchased a S10 pedal steel tuned e-9 with CBA LKLL, RKLR, RKLL set up.
1.Some of the nuts on the changer on the topside are looser than the others? Are they supposed to be that way or tightened as much as possible?
2. Are the metal nuts that stick out underneath the right end of the body adjusted inward or outward to change the tuning of the pedals? The reason I ask is when engage the pedals the pull rods containing the metal nuts move but the white plastic nuts don't move. When the knee levers are engaged, only the white plastic hex shaped ends move. This is counter to an Instruction Manual I have that says the white plastic ends are the tuning pegs for the knee levers and pedals as well.
If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it,and any reference to website (s) that illustrates and explains step by step how to tune the pedals and levers.
Thank you very much for your time. |

You should identify the brand of guitar you are referring to, if you do, someone will be able to help. Based on the small amount of info you have, I think you are talking about a pull/release guitar, possibly a Marlen? Pictures will help a lot too.
Just as an example, on pull/release guitars the strings that only raise are tuned: raised note is tuned at the keyhead, with the pedals down. then, release the pedals and tune the open note with the screws that are right behind the changer. There have been lots of posts over the years about tuning a pull/release. |

Gary, it's called "TIMING ".
No do not tighten them all. Whats important is that they have all been adjusted so that when the Pedal or knee lever is fully engaged they have reached the "STOP".
For example, the 5 string and the 10 string, the A pedal, both are B strings but one is MUCH fatter than the other, One will require a longer travel than the other to reach the same raise note.
Some guitars allow for more precise timing than others. Its done on the bellcranks where the pull rods connect to the cross rods. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

If this is a Zumsteel Hybrid, the metal nuts are not to be adjusted. If they have been tinkered with, you will need special instruction or a tech versed in adjusting them. |

Sorry, didn’t read close enough. Being an S10, it’s probably not a Zum Hybrid. |
