Hi Shaun:

Welcome to the Steel Guitar Forum. I've not seen your name here too much before. I'm in San Francisco (just down the road from ya), and, if you've got or are getting a ZB steel guitar, please let me know. And, if you're ever in the neighborhood, please do also let me know.

As far as fretboards are concerned, I think Kevin Hatton has made some new ones, which is very exciting for all of us in ZB-Land. You can find his contact info on the loooooooong ZB thread.

I'd be happy to meet you and share as much ZB info as I'm able.

ZBest,
Larry Chung

Hey Shaun,
I got my white fretboards from Kevin. They look great and even make the ZB sound better. Unfortunately they didn't improve my playing. They tell me that only comes with something called "practice". Maybe someday I'll look into this "practice" concept.

Duncan,
The practice thing isn't bad, you just have to make sure you get the right size.

I have got so much great feedback from everyone and I am so happy to be apart of the ZB community, I hope to bring some heart felt soul to this old guitar !

Red Rhodes showed me an interesting thing about ZB fretboards many years ago.The 21st fret is thicker than the 20th fret,Red thaught it was the funniest thing that he'd ever seen,My Desert Rose has the same thing,Stu

Stu, thats correct. ZB fret boards are not true scale. They are apparently adjusted for visual parallex. I like them that way.

Which brings up a problem I am having. My fingerboard came off the e9th neck. I thought I put it back where it came off but on my last gig I had to correct ever so much to be in tune(It was in tune open). Is there a scientific way to get it back in place?
The steel is a 1969 D10 with white fretboards.

Lyle, measure from the middle of the back axle out twelve inches on the neck. Thats where you place the middle of your twelth fret on the fret board. Measure from the middle of that fret to the middle of the nut roller axle and reset the nut axle piece if necessary by loosening the screws and adjusting the piece so the middle of the axle is twelve inches from the fret.

Can't we move this to the ZB thread. Hate to waste good bandwidth where it doesn't count.
