I know Dickey always used his LTD with Rossie (Emmons)
steel & what a sound. My question is Did Dickey every use the LTD amp with that killer Sho-Bud with Amber??
I want to see how the LTD sounds with a Sho BUd

| When Dickie was living in Tulsa for a short time, he played a Sho-Bud Super Pro with a LTD, don't know if it is the same one he had while in Texas. |

I believe Dicky played his LDG through a Fender Vibrosonic Reverb with Amber and Midnight Flyer.

Yes, I sold it to Randy. BTW, it didn't sound like that when I owned it. |

| Autry, I don't know for sure... I looked at a couple of videos on YouTube, because I was curious also, but I didn't find any where you could really see the amp that well. In one you could see a little of it and it looked kinda like a Webb to me.. not sure though. |

Yeah when Bill Terry sold it to Randy for Dicky to play; I picked it up from Bill and took it; as at that time I lived with Randy's ex-wife, Miss Leslie across the street from him; and at that time of the purchase by Randy; he already Married Amber Digby and Dicky is her step-dad and was going to play Live with them...so I set it up for Dicky with his Copedent....and I always did the string change and tweeking for him. When he started playing this LDG...he stopped playing his Emmons and LTD....cause when he got this LDG...Randy stuck a Fender Twin behind Dicky and Dicky LOVED it...and I believe he continued that until he passed(RIP Dicky....we miss you so much).

| Dickey's playing was inspiring, on the level of Ralph Mooney, and in many ways better. Besides being one of the greatest players ever, Dickey was a good person. I am still trying to play the thing he played on Johnny's Bush's "I'll Be There". |

Ha....and I can't believe I remember, Bill; but yes it was the HEB in Elgin...and I certainly appreciated the "Good stuff" Taped to the bottom of the guitar, cause I did have a LOT of cash...ah...ha...LOL......Oh WAIT...the LDG was the drug....ha....cool deal.

CORRECTION:
A Sho~Bud, a Twin Reverb, and DICKY OVERBY are a hard combo to beat.

Ricky, I have a really stupid question. I have played, "I'll Be There" many times as a instrumental, but always avoided playing that great part that Dickey played. What Dickey played fit great with his band, even though what he played was not melody. If I had tried to play what Dickey played on the Johnny Bush song I guarantee the bands I have played with would be lost. So what do you tell the band to do during the passage Dickey played?
Just stay in C until the last part starting on the 10th fret G, then winding back at C on the end? The progression does not seem to follow the melody, at least in my head. For that reason I know it would throw a band who had not rehearsed it. |

WEll Keith that section Dicky played over was the second half of the 1 chord > 1 1 1 1 1 1 5 1
Only band I played it with was back when me and Redd Volkaert played in band together....so HE KNOWS...ha...
and I haven't had to coach any other musicians.

I used to play something similar (I had only been playing around 5 years or so) and it worked.
I was told by someone that this was Weldon Myrick. I questioned that at the time. It's nice to have a definite answer.

Thanks for posting that tab. I can hear where he's playing it but it's his flawless attack and technique that makes a relatively simple solo stand out so.
He was a marvelous player.
