I know that there is a difference in the power supply and the number of 1/4" outputs on version 2, but is there a difference in the basic sound of these two pedals??

I asked and was told "no, there's no difference." I got the LDR-2 (the no wall-wart model). Without this option, the pedal leaves the power cord where it could conceivably be kicked out accidentally.

The downside to the LDR-2 is there's about a gadjillion 9-volt batteries strapped to it -- but they last a LOOOooonnng time.

The LDR has a nylon cord retainer in the back. If you unscrew it and thread the power supply cable through it and then screw it back down and plug in the power supply, you cannot kick the plug out,BUT you cannot unplug the supply when you pack it up without unscrewing the retainer. Seems the better place to have the power supply plug would have been somewhere on either side.
