The tone switch for the E9th neck on my Sho Bud Pro II does not work in one of the two positions. I am going to try and replace it myself. I have limited experience soldering (repaired several guitar patch cords only). Can anyone tell me where can I purchase this type of switch? I can't find an exact match on line. The current switch for the E9th neck indicates 10A 125VAC ON/ON. It has 3 soldered connections.
Are they called the PINs? No other information is shown on the part.
Searching on line I could not find any switches that are 10A. The closest I could find indicated 6A but had 6 connections for soldering the wires (PINs?). Also, am I looking for an SPDT, DPDT or something else? I appreciate any technical information (the more details the better) and/or sources of supply you may be able to provide. Thanks. |

James,
If there are three terminals and it says On/On (no center off position), it sounds like a SPDT switch.
Don't be concerned about current rating in a guitar pickup situation -- that switch will never see anywhere near 10A (or 6A for that matter).
Find a SPDT switch (assuming that is correct) that fits in the space you need to install it in.
You can verify the SPDT operation with a multimeter/ohmmeter. The 'Pole' (usually the center pin) will connect with one outer pin with the switch in one direction, and with the other outer pin in the opposite direction.
Edit: Oh, and if the switch connects in each of the two positions, then the switch is working and your problem is likely elsewhere in the circuit. |
