Hi everybody, a newbie here.
I bought a weissenborn two years ago and began to learn myself the lap style.
My method to learn an instrument is to write tunes for it and create an original repertoire.
I play solo, so I use mainly D tunings, major, minor or modal, which suits fine my picking hand style, derived from my work on the guitar.
I just made a You Tube video, so I thought it was a nice way to say hello.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8AErJoGuQQ&t=72s
(this tune will probably remind you a dozen of similar tunes on weissenborn, but it is what goes out of my head two hours ago...)

Excellent stuff. Who built the guitar? _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |

Thank you for taking the time to listen.
I bought the weiss from a canadian distributor (Twisted Woods) of chinese products, one of those "makers" like Anderson in UK, or weissenborn.es in Spain, or Bediaz in Germany. So I guess it comes from the Aiersi factory (or whoever sub-contractor working for them).
I never saw a weissenborn before this one, let alone play one, I don't have any reference point, so I choose the easiest way to test the water.
Actually I came back to guitar 12 years ago, and bought since several guitars, 9 on 10 being low to mid quality chinese instruments, and it works for me. At least I can do music with them, with some work that I'm happy to do myself.
I put yet another weiss tune on YT yesterday, but it is a more personal approach than the previous two, a waltz in D minor : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhI7JJfHjL4 |
