Hey All

I went to visit with David Hartley today.

I took my steel and amp to hear what I should sound like.
(Joke) I will never sound like that. Ha Ha.
I was pleased to see David, more like the old David. before his long illness.

We picked a while and David showed me how to improve my picking.

He told me he is thinking of doing video lessons, demonstrating and explaining some of his famous licks and moves.

I recorded David playing through my equipment and I wanted to share the video with you all.

https://youtu.be/Lojzl0rxh0M

I have also tabbed a few more of David's Youtube performances, which are available from David.

Kind regards
J.R.

David did one heck of a job on " Please Help Me I'm Falling" he just amazes me when he's playing as he is all up and down the neck throwing something in and dang if it doesn't sound great. IMHO he is the Franklin and Huey of the UK. I'd love to see him and Sarah Joy jamming together that would be a killer show. Thanks for sharing the video with us John.

Pardon me, but that was damn nice!
I hear Lloyd Green and a host of others in his playing.
David truly has his own style though, tasty, melodic, and emotional.

David and J.D Maness send me to my steel more than any other players. Besides Lloyd Green, I hear some Hal Rugg in his attitude.

David is in a league of his own. His playing always has tons of great phrasing and ideas, amongst his tone and overall great skill. Your tabs have also been of great help too, when they appear on the forum. If it's not an inconvenience, I'd love to have what you've tabbed of David's stuff. NealVosberg@gmail.com

I feel personally he is one of the very best on the planet, bar none. The most well known and highly skilled steel players we all know and love have nothing on him at all.
It amazes me that he is not a top professional studio and live performance steel player for the upper echelon country/pop artists.

He might have been one of the most in demand studio/touring guys if he had set out to be.

I have a feeling he made a better choice staying at home, playing locally, and doing all those great videos. Davids sense of time, his touch and his creativity are simply astounding.. Oh yeah, and the tone on any steel he is playing at the time is simply perfect... if I could play like one player, he would be the one... bob

Hi John,

When you see David next please encourage him to consider Skype lessons, he has a huge following
that might be interested in lessons from him via Skype which would be a one on one. I know I am, as I am a big fan and just recently purchased all of David's backing tracks that he had available for sale.

Everything said about David is true, He is an
extraordinary player with an unique style, with
a great right hand, bar control and tone. I have
watched his many video's that show he is "World Class Player"

Thank you David Hartley for helping to keep the steel guitar front and center.
