As a newbie who has recently started this thousand-mile journey I am so grateful this forum exists and I look forward to contributing when and where I can.

I started on harmonica 25+ years ago so I understand (love) positions & modes. My guitar playing started 15+ years ago and I am what you'd call a "Plodigy"...hard sledding.

I used to teach harp and am always looking for neat resources so as I am getting older and my eyesight seems to be fading daily I hit upon the idea of using Neon strings to mark my Root...it has helped me tremendously not only with reading lessons but also with my theory (I am thru my second reading of Denny's mind-blowing lessons)
When I see the Root I see everything a lot faster and as far as it possibly being a crutch I think of it more as a tool. I like tools. And beer!

Your thoughts & tips for noob power-learning are always appreciated!
