I just purcahsed a 1978 D-10 Emmons from a real nice fellow steeler up in Canada. My question is weather or not to keep the existing lawrence 710 Humbucker pickup on it or change it back to the original pickup which he also supplied with the guitar ? The 710 is on the E9th neck.
Thanks for your opinions !!!
John

Hey John...if you bought the Emmons from my friend Glen Austin in Montreal, that is my old Emmons I bought in '79 or '80. I've owned many p/p's -- some great -- some fine -- but yours was a very good recording p/p. I used it for a lot of recording in the 80's especially.

My thought is to keep the original Emmons single coil especially if you are not playing studio work. The original pickup was just great sounding like a great p/p is know for and frankly, if was no major challenge in the studio for me...just a thought.

Hi Bill,
Yes this is your old Guitar !!!

I met Glenn up near the Canadian border last week to pick it up. My hat is off to you and Glenn for taking care of this Emmons Gem. When I got it home and set it up I just stood there and looked at what a beautiful guitar I had just purchased. It really looks like it had never been taken
out on Gig's or studio work. Absolutely no Bar dings or scratches. It had a 2" lift kit which I had to take off and now it's just right. I would really like to hear some of the songs you used it on if that's possible. I will be in Dallas for the convention, perhaps we could meet there.
Thanks,
John

I put 710s in my 74 Emmons about 10 years ago and I would not go back to the original. Folks have different tastes though.
