I decided to sell my old Sho-Bud D10 and trade it for an MSA Classic S-10, because my poor old body can't take the weight any more.

Anyway, the MSA is cosmetically in great shape. It's the formica type, with double-raise, double-lower. The mechanics look like they could use a little TLC to tighten things up, but otherwise fine.

It is a 5+4. Strangely, P0 is not connected to anything. P1-P3 are standard Emmons A,B,C. P4 has some oddball change.

Here is my question: I think I'd like to make P0 lower the G#s to G. I think I'd like to make P4 a Franklin pedal, or at least lower the middle two strings.

Where can I get the parts to do this? Is it even possible? Any other recommendations for the spare pedals?

Thanks in advance.

Should have everything you need. It’s thoroughly possible; I just made a bunch of changes on a 1976 D10 Classic.

Me, I’d put the Franklin changes on P0.

Thanks, Al. Can you explain why the Franklin change works for you on P0?

I use it most often to lower string 6 for a sus2 chord, then want to raise the 2 to a 3 and move to the 4 chord. If the Franklin changes are on pedal 4, I have to jump over the C pedal to do that.

Michael, Most steel owners want the Franklin Pedal next to there A pedal. I have seen guitars with the pedal both ways.
If setting up (DAY Setup) They put the FP on as a 4 pedal.
If setting up (EMMONS/NASHVILLE Setup), They put it on as an 0 pedal.
This allows reaching the FP without having to cross over the C Pedal. Right beside the A pedal for ease of moving to it.

Hope this helps you to choose where you want to put a Franklin Pedal. Good Luck and Happy Steelin.

Michael I agree thoroughly with both your extra-pedal ideas.

If Pedal 0 is next to A, they can be used in combination for a minor 6th)

But if Franklin pedal is next to A, it is used alone. Thus I have it as Pedal D.

Chris Brooks: Do you have a typo in your post?

"But if Franklin pedal is next to A, it is used alone. Thus I have it as Pedal D."
