This sho bud is listed on Reverb as a permanent, but am I right in thinking it's a fingertip?

I think that is a permanent. The way I know to tell is with the fingertips, the tuning nuts stick out beyond the end plate. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will correct me on this. Here's a thread with lots of info:

Yes it is a Permanent in the way that it tunes at the right end; but many things have been added/updated....
Like the keyheads; most the underneath to NON-permanent crossbar/pullers... ..etc....
But it DOES NOT tune like a Fingertip or has all-pull raise/lower fingers like a Fingertip.

I've been watching that one. Sure looks a lot like the one Hal Rugg played on the Wilburn bros show.

I managed to talk a friend into buying this guitar, and it seems that my suspicions were correct about it being Hal's guitar that was made for him in the late 60's - when he went back to a Permanent.

It's been at my place for a week or so. I've been playing it and making adjustments for my friend. What an awesome guitar! And the undercarriage is a dream as far as these pull release guitars go. It sounds really great and clear with the coil tap switches flipped. Unbelievable through my Standel 50L15.

Not a great pic, but here it is with two other pull releases from the 60's. Marlen in the back, and a Blankenship/Bobbe Seymour/Sho-Bud custom guitar that's still a bit of a project.
