Hola, my name is Sean and I'm a new player from Chicago. I recently attained a new steel (GFI sm10 w/10-1 pickup) with 3 pedals and now 4 knee levers. Really digging the options especially the E to Eb knee lever from my old rusty Maverick. I was wondering if anybody knew any resources for Bakersfield type speedy licks/exercises in the 3/4/5 & 4/5/6 string groupings staying 1-4-5 positions (e.g. Cmaj - frets 1,3,8, 13,15, 20, etc). I've been doing more John Hughey-ish chordal texture - strings 5/8, 6/10, with some 3/4/5 & 4/5/6 licks/chords peppered in. Any help/direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean DeChant

Sean, check out Mike Headrick's website.
He has several Bakersfield type cds sound
tracks, and tabs. Excellent courses, Ralph
Mooney type playing .

Start slow. Every course should tell you that. Speed picking/blocking technique is born out of accuracy.

Hey, Sean, rather than a specific lick, experiment with your B&C combination and C pedal alone at your basic chord positions. Lots of fast licks there bouncing on and off B & C!
