I have this msa classic and have put a BLawrence 711 pickup in it andit is truly awesome. Only problem the pedals are worn and rattle aropund a lot. How can I fix them? Is it practiccal to clamp them tighter were the axles go?

Knock the pin out that holds the pedal.
Have the pedal bored out oversize and a bushing installed to fit the standar pin.

Normally, wear doesn't take place in the pedal, but in the aluminum bracket. (The pin is hardened steel and held in place by a setscrew in the pedal, so it moves with the pedal.) You can try closing up the bracket a little with a c-clamp, or some other device, or adding a thin washer on one side, and this might help. Just proceed with caution and remember to oil the pin yearly on each side of the pedal.

I find that most all steels have "pedal noise" when the pedals are pressed and released quickly, but more often than not, that noise usually comes from from slop at the top pedal rod connection. The pedal brackets are pinned in place, and are a pain to remove, so before you attempt any repairs, make sure it's the pedal or bracket that's actually at fault!

If you move the pedal back and forth and watch closely you'll see that the pin is moving in the bracket rather than the pedal unless the allen screw is loose in the pedal. Jack.
