8 ohms / rated 150 watts. Priced from $75 to $100 or so. Its not a NEO and weighs approx 12 pounds
I acquired one of these early last year and have it installed in an 18x18x12 cab I specifically built and use with a low powered amp such as the DV Mark 50 watter. I also use this as an extension cab on the outdoor big stage guitar gigs when I use the Dr Z Maz 38.
The speaker leans a bit bright but overall is very easy to dial in with the Steel or guitars. It does not have an excessive mid range profile.
I love that it is 8 OHMS as that allows it to be used in parallel with another 8 ohm cab to give an amp a 4 ohm total load.
Is it as robust as a BW 1502 or the Eminence EPS 15 ? Certainly not. I will say that of all the speakers I have bought to try out this one I kept ! Tone wise it is very close to the Fender Gold Label Emmi 12's that I use in all of my amps, and they are 50 watters.
I'm actually thinking of grabbing a SF Fender Pro reverb and putting one of these in the cab.
So, for a small to moderate room and a reasonably powered amp, don't rule it out.

Tony, good info, thanks. Are you building your cabinets with plywood or pine for weight reduction? |

5/8 plywood or whatever they have now which is just over 1/2 but less than 3/4 . Not for weight reduction but rather cost reduction !
I have built a few with 3/4 but they can get heavy in a NY minute. I was always sorry when I did.
The cab above ( 5/8 ply ) comes in loaded just under 30 pounds, thats with a 12 pound speaker. The DV amp head weighs 4 pounds. I also us thinner woods for the rear panels and Pine for any bracing I may use.
I'm not in the cabinet business and don't want to be.
I'm in the "I wanna use my power tools" business
The amp I typically use for my 2 x monthly gig is the 45 watt DV with a Neo 12, it comes in at just over 20 pounds . The cab/head combo above is do-able for gigs but I don't use it all that often. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Tony thanks. That's my normal mode, whatever is handy. 30lbs is good. Cabinet looks great and makes a usable product. I picked up a 1x12 Harley Benton cabinet loaded with a 12 inch Celestion v30 for 99.00 used. Speaker is China made but sounds great. I swapped it out with a TC Furlong 12 for steel use and plan on putting the Celestion in my Deluxe Reverb reissue. |
