It appears to be an old Marlen, CB. |

CB, I agree with Bob,
I have an S-12 Marlin, the fret board markings look simular to mine, except mine are in the middle of the board,,can't see them clear enough to tell if they're exact.
The bellcranks also look like those.
Mine is not that old tho.

Well, it's a fishing expedition some times....
I'm afraid buying that steel would be. But I admit I've looked.[This message was edited by Charlie McDonald on 01 February 2006 at 03:07 PM.] |

This looks like an all pull guitar. If so, this is NOT a Marlen. I knew Leonard Stadler very well and was in his shop in Reisdville NC many times He made me a beautiful D-10 with Cocobola in 1975. A push-pull all the way. I still have this beauty and it works perfect and sounds great.

Crow Bear
In Louisiana we use the Phrase in french " a grey back dog" to discribe things like this guitar. I must say I have never seen a Marlen that looks like that underneath and I've worked on both his pull-release and all-pull guitars. This guitar was listed earlier today with no mention of the Marlen name from a bid of 127.00. So beware or sit back and see what fun we can have watching the unknowing bid themselves silly.

Woww, Now I have to agree with Russ.
It also has the Name on the front, same fretboards.
the tail piece around the changer is short and different.
But, the seller did say it is a student model.
Nice work on both the cabinets .
wish I had a fretboard like it
