When I tune the raise on my 10th string, the tuning nut is so loose that it falls off the rod. It is a shorter nut with a spacer. Can this be fixed with a longer nut and no spacer, or will it require some more advanced tinkering? Thanks!

Will the tuning nut work if you remove the spacer? Maybe the spacer will not allow enough threads for the nut. You probably don't need a longer rod, if it worked in the past. Probably the best thing to do would be replace the nut, perhaps without a spacer. Good luck.

Sounds like there is way to much pedal travel if you're having to loosen the nut that far out. Look at the bell crank and see if it has moved on the shaft in relationship to the others next to it.

The pull rod may need to be moved back closer to the cross shaft as the 10th string doesn't require a lot of travel to come to pitch.

What kind of guitar? Some will let you adjust the rod in the bellcrank

I agree with lane. What kind of guitar do you have ?? First check to see if someone put 2 spacers on the rod in question, With the problem.
Some guitars have pull rods that is held by a set screw in a brass connector where they are hooked to the Bell Crank.
I own MSA and GFI guitars that the rod can be lengthened or shortened by loosening set screw in connector at bell crank, just sliding the rod till the tuning nut fits properly, Then tighten the set screw.
Some guitars like Emmons, Which have the L bent on the rod where it connects to the bell crank may need a shorter spacer. Good Luck in finding cause and cure and back to Steelin.

This particular guitar is a Derby. Thanks for all the input!
