My instructor is off fall cruising in his boat, so, as an ultra beginner, I am looking for some very simple C6 song tabulature, to practice on. Any suggestions? _________________ Beginning Player, 1946 Fender Dual Pro- Boxcar, Late 1950's Fender Champ, 1954 Fender D8 MK1 Stringmaster Project, MK 2 Stringmaster 22.5 Single Neck Project, MK 2 Stringmaster T8 22.5" Project, Vintage D8 built with Stringmaster Parts. I would recommend playing along with recordings of songs you like (on YouTube or whatever).
Asleep at the Wheel is a good band to play along with to get the feel for the 6th tuning. Songs like Rt.66, Choo Choo Cha Boogie, etc.
Songs like Sleepwalk and Steel Guitar Rag, etc, maybe, too.
There are alot of lesson type vids on Youtube, too.
I would seek out other players in the area, for tips, lessons, jams, etc.
Are you near Portland at all? There are alot of players down here. |

Gotta put another recommendation for Doug Beaumier's excellent materials. They are not tutors but actual songs/tunes that you can play along to the supplied backing track. Doug provides A book with all the music and tabs. 2 CDs one with Doug playing the pieces the other just the backing track. These are straightforward and fun. Also you have Doug's playing to check yourself against. I have recorded a few of pieces and uploaded them to YouTube. All recorded with Doug's backing tracks.

These are from Doug's first book....
25 songs for Lap Steel Guitar, C6 tuning.
I can't recommend these books enough!
