I came upon this video a while back using 5 notes continuously instead of the usual 4 notes I had been playing in a riff. Although this video is on guitar it applies to any instrument. I have been adapting this to pedal steel and it adds a different dimension and gets your fingers moving a bit differently. It doesn't matter what 5 notes you play as long as they are usable in the cord. Pretty nifty......
