Up for sale is a 1949 Supro Twin double-six steel in excellent overall condition. Original magnets have been replaced with Rick Aiello’s much more powerful NiBor upgrades. Electronics work perfectly and adjustable pole pieces are all intact. Screw-on amphenol connector has been replaced with a modern phono jack. Apart from wear on lower right side of body (see photo) MOTS finish is in great condition. Chrome is shiny with only light hazing and minor wear. Quality fossilized ivory nuts greatly improve tone and sustain. Normal wear to fretboard (see photos). Tuners have some play but are still functional. For years, a few of the replacement tuner buttons have shown cracks but none have broken; I will include a few extras.

Includes original hard shell case in excellent condition.

This is a wonderful guitar with strong output, bright tone and unbeatable sustain. Supros have a reputation primarily as rock and blues instruments, but this has been my go-to instrument on many types of music. It’s one of my favorites of the many steels I’ve owned, but I’m selling off most of my collection. $650 U.S. plus actual shipping costs. As anyone who’s bought instruments from me on this site can attest, I pack with obsessive care. I’ll accept e-transfer or cashier’s check. PayPal too, but for U.S. PayPal purchases I need to add 4% to help offset the surcharge for cross-border transactions. For more information or photos, PM me.
