I would bid on it if I lived closer.

I am a ZB player. I work on them, My advice is that if you are going to play ZB you need to know how to work on them or else you may be an unhappy camper. Adjusted properly they play great. The bad news is I've never seen one adjusted properly unless it was done by either someone who owned the guitar or someone who knows ZB's. This one only has two knee levers and parts are scarce for ZB's. I make my own. |

I had a ZB and it was great. I think you should bid on the guitar (you'll be going up against me, I think).
Having said that... If you get that guitar you should factor in sending it to Greg Jones or Billy Knowles and getting it set up. I don't think it has a case. Their description states: Original packaging - No.
I'm just pulling these figures out of the air, but lets say you got the guitar for $500. Throw in $700 for shipping, setup and a case. 2 more knee levers might drive the cost up a bit more. I don't know how much a ZB in good mechanical condition goes for, but that wouldn't be too bad a deal. Kind of a lot of hassle though.
Maybe you can go down there and look it over.

Yeah I'd be in way over my head if I bought that thing. Just so tempting since pick up only auctions go for so much less than your average auctions. With two days left there's already 38 bids (ten or so bidders)

Now pay attention guys. this baby has been discussed in the ZB thread. If we keep posting related topics all over the place someone is liable to miss out on information that could be useful,

Forgive me Pat, but that post is buried twenty three pages into that thread and received NO response or discussion at all.
Since this ZB is near to me and a pickup only auction, and I was actually considering bidding, I hope you'll pardon my post...hehe
one day left still under $400
what would guys biud on this thing if you could pick it up? |

As it has no knee levers, $600 max
If it does indeed have 2 knee levers, I think it will be worth $760

At $400, it probably wouldn't be a bad buy (for restoration or parts), but it's just not a good guitar for a beginner, owing to the fact it's a ZB, and it needs work. It's limited, with only 2 levers, and it's got an old-style changer.
Kevin and Henry have it pretty much dead-on. |

But it says on the auction: quote:
Due to the size of this item, it will have to be freighted. Please call us at 253-839-0305 or e-mail us at service.wa055@isolditmail.com for a freight quote.

I know Russ, conflicting info on that auction...but i think its meant to be pick-up only
"Will arrange for local pickup only (no shipping)."
I aint bidding. if one of you gentlemen (or ladies) picks this thing up I'd love to hear about how it works out for you. |
