Nice forum here, I've learned a lot so far form reading posts here. Thanks to all who contribute!
I just got this MSA s10 classic and am hoping I can have some fun with it. Ive got some background in bluegrass banjo and jazz guitar so I'm thinking I might stand a chance. I'm in Chicago suburbs if there's any cool resources nearby I should know about.

Nice looking steel. Welcome to the adventure!
This is not anywhere near Chicago, but it is in Illinois, and steel guitar shows are often worth the pilgrimage.

If you are interested in lessons online, there are a few teachers on the forum that do Skype. And there is the Paul Franklin Method out there now, getting rave reviews from forum members who have signed on to it. |

I live in South Elgin, play pedal/lap/dobro/lead guitar. I've been doing this kinda stuff for awhile, haven't really found any local resources for pedal steel. We're a lonely bunch out this way. More players in Chicago. Also a few players in the Northwest 'burbs, I believe.
I don't believe we've crossed paths. Are you friends with Rob Anderlik or Mike Church? Gary Victorine?
Feel free to PM me. If you've been playing around the Fox Valley, we must know some of the same folks. Maybe we can talk shop some time. |
