That's from 1966 and was released on the LP shown below, over 10 years into Haydon's recording career.
It was Haydon's only release on a semi-major label. He deserved better, with a great voice like that.
He's still alive I think, in or near Chicago.
The LP was produced by Don Chapman, who I think was also from the Chicago area, so it's entirely possible the sessions were held there and used local session musicians. I think the details are lost to history unless maybe you can get it directly from Haydon.

Haydon was born in Northern Mississippi and first recorded in that area and in Memphis, but he moved to the Chicago area in the late 1950s and has been there ever since as far as I know.
He has recorded semi-regularly for over 60 years, in both the US and Europe. He's about 80 now.
I suspect Chapman is also from Chicago as he has produced other artists in Chicago studios--but that LP you have may have been recorded anywhere. The steel could be a Chicago guy or a well-known Nashville guy--I have no idea.
Haydon's in the middle of the back row in the first pic below.

Don Chapman was one of the original DJs on Chicago radio station WJJD when it switched to a country format around 1965. He was the producer on a number of sessions for some of the local Chicago area artists. I believe he later moved to Nashville to continue on in the music business. _________________ Sho-Bud: Professional & Fingertip |

So HayDON is also HayDEN the rockabilly guy? I tried to match up that face but was in doubt. That picture w the white blazer is HayDEN.
I always guess Hal Rugg when I hear something fast-picked and interesting. Ive heard Hal on some real obscure LPs where he is identified in the credits, one of them is a vanity recording. Songs seldom heard with unknown stars, but the steel is sublime.
I live near Chgo Ill go find him let you know what happens _________________ Sustainability is unsustainable |

Yes, it's one and the same person.
I don't know how it's spelled on his birth certificate.
His name is spelled Hayden on his first record from 1955, at age 17, with the band in the first picture above.
Listen to it.

Two years later, in 1957, he's recording rockabilly and looks like the pic with the white coat above. Still spelling his name "Hayden", so I'm guessing that's his birth name. Don't know where or why "Haydon" comes in.
