Collectors; 1960 Wright Sierra Cable, Near Perfect Condition.

I’ve been told that this is one of the first “Sierra” named steels made in 1960 with the scissor changer that allows both raise and lower on each string. Two pulls per pedal. The Sierra name is on the pedal rack.

This steel has seen very little use and that is why the fine condition after so many years. Some checking in the lacquer as expected for the age but almost no other signs of use as can be seen in the un-touched photos. Everything works.

I bought this a year ago for the same price I am selling it for.
Selling because I really have too many steels and not much room. Need to make space for a more recent PSG I bought for a project.
I will be back in the USA from the 6th of July to the 14th of August and can sell it during that time. The steel has no case but I will package it very well for shipping, Loads of bubble wrap. I was quoted $250.00 for a very good quality custom case by a great builder of cases on the forum.

Price $975.00 plus actual shipping. Many neat features that I will tell about to serious interested parties.

As you can see, Like everything the great Chuck Wright did it is far more advanced than other steels at the time it was made. Very Happy

Here is the copedent that I forgot to include. Rolling Eyes

This is the tuning it had when I got the steel and I saw no need to change it.
Makes possible most of the changes that are available on a modern steel, but with some on pedals instead of knee levers.
Makes for some pedal hoping, but you can see how the E's on the 1&4 pedals work well with 2&3 pedals next to them.
The 5th pedal is only pulling one string now and the other cable is hooked to the bracket next to the changer to keep the tension.
Would be easy to convert to a C6th or A6th PSG with all the standard changes.

Does that pedal bar say "Sierra"?
I had a D10 9P from that era and it was a Sierra, S/N 00015. Looked identical to what you have except D10

Hi Roy,
Yes Sierra on the pedal bar and Wright Custom on the top deck.
Mine has no serial number. I'm told that is because it was one of the first 3 or 4 built to test everything.
We think it spent at least 55 years in a closet or under a bed.
When I picked it up it still had the original strings, Rusty enough to scare me taking them off. Laughing
