Hey all, I'm getting ready to purchase Band in the Box. Without having any experience with the program, it's really hard to truly understand the differences in the packages. I have interest in composing different styles of music, but will lean towards acoustic stuff. I'm wondering; if I should buy 2018 or can I save a few bucks and buy 2016 or 2017, what package I should buy, and does what I buy to get started put any limitations on how I can upgrade? Any recommendation from all of the experienced users here would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!

I have 2016 and it is amazing more than you would ever need. I use it for background tracks and play every kind of music professionally. Making more money than I ever did playing with bands.

If you don't mind waiting PG usually has a sale on the newest version which will probably be 2019 somewhere around December.

I always get the ultra pak with all the realtracks I can get. Been a user since mid 90s. I always get the hard drive version.

If you buy used, it's hard to register plus newer realtracks won't work with older versions. Something to think about.

I might be a beginner now, but someday I'm gonna steel the show.
