I use one of my user presets for open strings and raises and the other preset for lowers. This is because you can't have two different versions of the same note in a given user preset. On my Excel U-12,I had so many changes that I still had some kind of comprimise on one note but I can't remember what it was because that guitar's pedal/lever stops/adjustments stay put so well and Jagwires are so consistant that all I ever do with the Peterson is tune open strings. -MJ-

Thanks for this topic and Thanks Michael for the tip. I just ordered one of these and had the same concerns. I put off buying one for this reason and just gave in to the fact that I would have to tune partially with the preprogrammed offsets and finish in standard mode. But this method sounds good. What a wonderful place this forum is.

I have my D-10 presets programmed into the two memories (P1 for E9th and P2 for C6th).

There are only one E9th setting that is different (at least in my setup) and that's the 4th string E to F# raise - everything else is programmed - and I have either a raise, lower or both on all 10 strings. But that is not a hassle as normally only the "open" needs tuning (after the raises and lowers have been tuned).

On the C6th, I have to tune the bass C (10th string) manually but everything else on the C6th is programmed into the memory.
