GFI Expo/BL-705

Hi there folks. I just had a 705 installed in my GFI Expo.. Once plugged in (to an early Session 400) at a gig it began cutting out horribly and distorting... To troubleshoot the issue i bought myself some new cables... and a Nashville 400... as I had another gig later in the week... I realize this was not the most economical way of operating.. Laughing

Once plugged into the Nashville it began cutting out and distorting, same as before... Ive come to realize due to the pickup being too close to the strings.

Long story short I am just wondering if anybody here has succesfully installed a 705 into an expo? as there is no room for the pickup to be lowered.

Additionally.. is it possible to remove the bottom metal base plate off of the pickup to give it just enough extra room for string clearance?

I love the tone of the pickup and would love to be able to keep it on my steel!!
