If you look up BuddyEmmons and note the "Buddy Emmons Information" site, there is a 12-string C6 setup he has (had?.

Note that it has two lower C notes. What's next?

Of course, one raises to D and keeps the C below it. The other?

I would bet top C to B for the Maj7,
I have his C6 on D10 as a base setup.

Bob, Buddy hasn't mentioned the reasoning, but this is my take on the two C's: For chord passages, leave them both at C. For single note passages, raise one to D.
