| Greetings all... I have an early 70' Sho Bud Maverick that I need to install all of the Puller Rods underneath the body. I have the Pedal Rods, but need to cut and make all the other Rods. I also have the 5 hole Rod Puller connectors. This guitar does not have Knee Levers. Could anyone tell me what type of rod material and diamter size I need to use for making these rods? Thanks for any help on this. |

The last one I worked on, the rods seemed to be the same diameter as coat hanger wire. I bought some at Hobby Lobby but it was slightly smaller

Hey Randy,
I used the old style wire coat hangers to make two of mine. The hangers gave me the same amount of flex as the originals. The two bends on each end are different, and I can take a picture of the pull rod uploaded tomorrow. They work well and it stays in tune.

| A coat hanger is Wire Gauge 13 (.092). Check welding shop for mild steel 36" X 3/32 (.09375 diameter)welding rod. If you need a long length of rod the welding rod will be straight, No kinks to get out to use. Good Luck in getting it back to original. |

Are you close to a Home Depot, or Lowes, or other home improvement store? They sell the wiire that you hang the suspended cielings with. The wire comes in a length about 10 to 12 feet, and is bright color. Buy 1 or 2 pieces, and you will have plenty of wire.

The difference between
The diameter can be the same, but the coat hanger wire
has the same amount flex as the original. Plus there’s
something gratifying when you do get all those kinks out.

Thanks everyone for your help and for all the information. I used 3/32" Stainless Steel Rods to make the Pull Rods and completed the Sho Bud Maverick. It turned out great. It will make someone a great starter, or a great addition to their collection.
