Searching right now to replace my ZB with something much lighter. I came across the William's pedal steel web page and really like the appearance of the steel and discovered that the weight is only about 38 lbs for a D10. Any imput on William's would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Danny |

The Williams is a very nice guitar as is the builder Bill. I have several friends that have play on Williams guitar for several years and are very happy with them. Several here on the forum also play them and alway report positively when asked. |

I played several at the ISGC this year, and I now have a Williams on order. I can tell you first hand Bill is very easy to work with. I had a lot of non standard features (including the body wood), and as long as it will work he will do it. You get to pick everything, color, inlay, lacquer or mica, even the burnish on the top of neck.
They feel really solid for as light as they are, mechanics are excellent and easy to change around, hysteresis and drop are better than most, the tone is very fat yet there is a nice sparkle to the upper partials of the note.
You won't go wrong with a Williams, of course there are lots of great steels being made right now. As usual, the best thing is to get to a steel show and try them all, the quality is so high these days it will be a hard decision!

I have played several Williams guitars over the last 10 years and I am TOTALLY satisfied. The tone is awesome, the mechanics are dependable and Bill Rudolph is a gem to deal with, You will not be dissapointed. Albert Svenddal

An excellent guitar! I have a D-10 and a SD-10. Both in lacquer with custom inlay. Bill is using a new finish technique that is impervious to anything, even finger nail polish remover! |

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like it's a great sounding guitar! Light weight, as well. Thanks again, Danny |

I started on a single ten Sho-Bud in 1980. Played it four years then I bought a double ten from Bill Rudolph, and have not played any other brand since. I am very picky about the mechanics of a steel guitar, so I guess I'm pretty happy with Bill's guitars. IMO they are better than most and as good as any guitar available today. JMO |

I too am a satisfied Williams owner and would recommend this brand highly. I must agree with all the previous positive comments about Bill Rudolph, and the fine instruments he makes. |

I am on my second Williams, I played the first one for about 8 years. They are good sounding, easy playing, and look great. I will also confirm that Bill is a great person to deal with. I just happened to have a picture.

I've had my Williams for a few years now,and can only say good things about it. I've hauled it around in a gigbag on the subway, played it through a lot of different house amps, and it always sounds great(even through a JC 120).I recommend a Williams to anyone who is interested in a fine instrument. |

I have had my WILLIAMS D10 for just over a year now and get a lot of comments on the sound of the guitar over the last one that I played and the only difference was the guitar... There are not enough good words that can be said for Bill or his product and also his support.

Bill has a couple of features on his guitars that he has received patents on. One is the angle of the dangle on the changer where the ball of the string fastens. It isn't a 90 degree angle like on most guitars and it helps with the string breaking problem. Also, he has a patent on the cross over system to change tunings on a single neck guitar. Bobby Lee can attest to this.

I don't know what happened there, but somehow "Four to the Bar" ended up in my post about Williams.
Moderator, will you please fix that?

I have a Williams D10. It is a superbly built, great sounding guitar.
Interestingly, there is no difference in price between mica nad lacquer finishes. |
