You see quite a few Kline S12 universals so I have to ask, was it always an extended E9 or do you have a few other pedals and rods stashed away?

That is a question I don’t have an answer for. I’m the third owner that I know of, and it’s been an extended E9 the whole time. Though I do have the hardware for another knee lever. It came to me as a 4x6.

look if there is some extra holes underneath the guitar, if there is, that means someone took some stuff out... I have never seen Kline S12 E9 ext , all 12 string Klines were U12 7+5 that I’ve seen so far...

A Kline carries all the lever and pedal cross shafts on two long side rails that are pre drilled and tapped to carry existing and additional changes so there should be no holes under the guitar. The pedal bar is the same, pre drilled to except a maximum of 10 pedals I think.

Alan.

Yes, this one can facilitate more pedals and levers, thought it’s not obvious if there had been others installed previously. To my eye it looks as though there haven’t.

that is correct, so I guess there is no way to figure it out if it ever was U12 or not, at least not by some extra holes in the cabinet, you may be able to tell by some other signs, but I'm no Kline expert, so I don't know.... maybe by serial number, if there is a model of the guitar a part of the serial number...
