What tuner do you use when tuning to cents? I need a large display.
I've been using an older Peterson strobe but it doesn't display the cents.
The largest display of cents I've found is on a small Intelli IMT-500 and it's not very large. Even on the Boss tuners the cents is not displayed very large.

Thanks, I wasn't familiar with the newer Boss tuners. I see they got rid of the Hz graphics so the cents is easier to see, but it's still pretty small.

Garry,
I use PitchLab Pro on my phone. It displays offset in Cents.
Costs nothing to try it. Updgrade for a few bucks to save custom sweetened tunings.
It works with the phone's built in mic, or a cable connected to your volume pedal's tuner-out.

The Peterson StrobOPlus HD can be programmed with your settings (It has the Newman settings pre-programmed). Don't need to worry about tuning to whatever cents since its already programmed in the tuner.
Its programmed with their app on their site then you download that to your tuner. |

Ditto on the PitchLab Pro, works like a charm, custom tunings etc. etc.. _________________ Banjo, Dobro, Guild D-40, Telecaster, Justice Pro Lite 3x5, BOSS Katana 100, Peavey Nashville 112 in a Tommy Huff cabinet, Spark, FreeLoader, Baby Bloomer, Peterson StroboPlus HD, Stage One VP.

Until I got a Peterson, I was using the PitchLab Pro app, connected with a Peterson PitchGrabber clip-on mic. Just to clarify, you DO NOT need to upgrade in order to create and save sweetened tunings.
I am disappointed that the StroboPlus HD doesn't display the actual frequency or offset in cents like PitchLab. It was nice info to have, but is really a moot point once you've set up a sweetened tuning. |

If you use the Peterson PitchGrabber, you don't need to go through the VP. The PitchGrabber works like a clip-on tuner. Clip one end to the leg of the steel, and the other end plugs into your phone.

I use something similar to the Peterson Pitch Grabber, same concept, plugs into my android phone or iPad, clips on to my tuning head endplate to tune via PitchLab Pro. _________________ Banjo, Dobro, Guild D-40, Telecaster, Justice Pro Lite 3x5, BOSS Katana 100, Peavey Nashville 112 in a Tommy Huff cabinet, Spark, FreeLoader, Baby Bloomer, Peterson StroboPlus HD, Stage One VP.

Thanks to all here who have suggested Pitch Lab Pro. I have been looking around for a decent Android tuning app with no luck until now. I dl’d it today and find it about 3000% easier to use than the Peterson iStroboSoft on my iPad. |
