Beauty! Just curious - when did Emmons start using the raised logo instead of the decal?

Barry,
don't know the answer to your question but my 76 P/P had a raised logo and I purchased it new from Emmons. I'm guessing probably the late 60's-early 70's. I'm sure there are others on here that can tell you more in detail.

To the best of my knowledge those backing-plates were an after-market part. Well, maybe, because I got mine from Jim Aycoth at the 2002 ISGC. It was certainly not a standard fitting but an 'extra'.

Then one day I saw some in Bobbe Seymour's shop. He told me he'd had them made on his own initiative.

I certainly think they enhance the appearance.

It appears as though there are two different items under discussion.
1st we have the raised logo. This is just the Emmons badge used in place of the decal.
And then we have the backing plate that is placed behind the badge that is an after market accessory and not original to Emmons.

I have owned my Legrande 3 since 1999. What a steel. No reason to purchase another brand.

Joe:

The same thought recently occurred to me. In the last year or so I've been pondering getting another steel and I've considered quite a few. I have recently seen sense - I don't think I could improve upon my LeGrande 111 D-10 which I bought new directly from the Aycoths in late-2000.

I do like that backing-plate for the logo! It cost me $20.
