Can anyone tell me the exact mod replacement
Reverb tank to suite my fender steel king amp?
And whilst on the subject, Are the mod tanks better
than the Accutronics tanks and if so .. why? Would

What is the purpose of the "mod" tank? Did the original tank go out on you and needs to be replaced, or are you striving for a different sound? _________________ Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande
There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

Someone, maybe another Steel King owner may know the exact model number. The model number is stamped on the housing somewhere. The best thing is to pull the tank to find that number and match that up to the MOD model.
The specifications are listed on the page that I linked to if you click on one of the models. Ohms, long, short etc.
I replaced the Accutronics tank in my NV400 with a MOD tank. I like it better. It has a better tone and shimmer, more presence and a bit better tail.
The company's propaganda states that it is more of a "vintage" tone....I guess like the early days? |

Hey Greg, Is that number the exact number needed to replace the Accutronics with a Mod? I do not have my amp at the moment so I can't look at the old tank number to cross reference it with the new mod tank |

Hey Paul:
The number Greg gave you is correct for the unit you would need for your Steel King. You have a choice though, in that you can choose a long decay (which I believe Greg did) or short or medium decay. I replaced the original verb with the MOD unit which had the medium decay and it is a huge improvement. I had bought the medium decay MOD unit before for other amps and was familiar with it... and very happy with those MOD verbs as well.
