Could I get some comments from you guys on using this knee lever(RKR). Can't wait to hear from all. Thanks, Gary

I have this on my RKR. It allows you to do the A+B pedal roll lick but in a lower range in the open position. Also gives you some bluesy type stuff used in conjunction with your A pedal + F lever. And in the A+B position gives a nice bend from the 7th to the 6th. |

You can use if for the same kind of movements that you use your 6th lower for…only the movements sound just a bit different….which I like.
And, if you have it on the same lever that raises 1 & 2 a whole & half, respectively, you get a cool full strum across the neck on all strings. You kinda have to fudge the 9th string, unless you want a 7th… |

Ask yourself where you want to hear a whole step going up or down. 2nd to the 3rd, 4th to the 5th, 5th to the 6th or 6th to the 7th are the most obvious ones. b7 to root also possible.
You can compare the Whole tone raise on string 7 same as your A pedal if you you see the E-Eb as an opposite functioning B pedal. Hopefully you do not have these changes on the same knee.
There are uses for the unison between string 7 and 6 many places.
Having the natural 7 available on string 7 or 1 while using A+B pedals is also mighty useful sometimes.
The most obvious chords will be found on strings
10 - 8 7 - 5 4 - 2 1 with the F#-G# lever (and E-Eb)
10 - 8 - 6 5 4 3 - - open or with A+B pedals

I don't have a pedal or lever that will raise my 7th string a whole step. Is this a normal part of common setups?
I can raise it a half-step, but I have to pick the 6th string to go up a whole step. There are times I wish I could get that note for melodies without the picked sound. _________________ Well up into mediocrity

I think it is more common to lower 6 to F#. My Carter has both changes on levers, and I never use the 7th string raise. I have been using the 6th lower since the early 70's, and will NEVER give it up. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I agree that it's more common to lower 6 a whole step. Personally, I like raising 7 a whole step, mainly because it's sounds refreshing to my ear. I'm also able to use a wound 6th (.022W), which sounds better to me than the 20p I needed to use to get that whole step lower.

Thats a good idea Skip, my 6th 20p is sounding harsh sometimes so I'll try the 22w. |

I just like to be able to move the 6th string through the 4 notes available on the sixth string (F# G G# A) for some melodic movements. I can't get that with the 7th string raise. I can't get to an A without another pedal or lever. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Bengt, thanks for your response, your explanation of how to think about using this change was thought provoking. Richard, how are you getting 4 notes on the 6th string lower? I am guessing your steel has split tuning. I have the 6th string lower on a P/P and I am only getting A,G# and F#. Also, I have Zum Encore and it has the 7 string whole step raise. Does anybody use a half stop on it to get the G, or perhaps a half stop on both strings 1 and 7. I would love to have a G on an open string, or in an open position or the A and B pedal down position. |

Bob... Yes I do have a split tuner on string 6. Won't work on a push pull. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Mighty nice major 7 in the middle of the AB pedals down position. Go from there... _________________ Steel Guitar Services:
