Wow! For that price, you could buy 17 Clinesmith guitars. Maybe Todd would offer a bulk discount |

I wonder what the seller used as a price guide !
I've welded a lot of holes and cracks shut. but nothing like that one ! Just trying to understand why some fool would do that butcher job !!
I could fix it up, but it would take more that the usual work for sure !! A real shame too...
I didn't see the pat pending stamp behind the bridge, so I would say it's older than 1934 or'35.. |

Gee Bill it's obvious, They did it to improve the tone and value naturally!
Like Ralph said, you could buy a lot of new Clinesmith's for that price.
Least anyone does not know, Todd is working on his Fry Pan model now and has a hope to have them available by years end. I think he told me they will be available in 6 & 8 string versions. You could by 7 of them, one for each day of the week and still save some big money. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. Yeah... Todd told me he was going to be making a long scale frypan first.
I'm holding out for a 22.5" scale. Hope it won't be too long! _________________ Remington Steelmaster S8 w/ custom Steeltronics pickup. Never played a Fry Pan, but they do sound good in the hands of a good picker. Also never played a long scale lap steel.
Would like to give it a try.
I'm told the harmonics are less trouble to get on the longer scale, but the slants below the 7th fret get kind of tough unless the strings are spaced wide and parallel?
One of the two I've been building will have the longer scale, but now still reading all I can about winding pickups so I can try to get that right for them.
Maybe in a month or two I'll get them finished. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Even a cheap Rogue sounds good in the hands of a good picker.
Too bad great guitars don't make us play better (then maybe $20k would be worth it!). _________________ Remington Steelmaster S8 w/ custom Steeltronics pickup.
