Great video, Charlie, but does NOT feature Lloyd on his LDG guitar but on an earlier model Sho~Bud guitar. |

Jim,
Thanks. Most know Lloyd as LDG. Actually, his initials are LLG. But, some know and regard him as LDG.
So, your observation is correct. The guitar he is playing is not an LDG but rather the mentioning of LDG was referring to the player not the guitar.
Hope you are doing well.....

I'm sorry that I misspelled your name, Charley!! Yes, I guess Lloyd is better known for playing his LDG guitar. However, I have two or three recordings of him playing BEFORE he got his LDG guitar from Duane Marrs & David Jackson. As an aside, it was Lloyd who suggested that I upgrade from my student model Sho~Bud guitar to his professional model LDG guitar - which I did! Unfortunately, I don't play any better!
Thanks for asking about me! Although I've re-torn my knee ACL during track starting practice, I hope to play PART of a rugby game this coming Sunday! Expect to see & MEET you in Dallas in a few weeks, Charley! |

Yes that was WAAAAAAY before his LDG. Which BTW...the "Letters LDG are from Lloyd Green and the middle letter "D" is from his wife Dorothy "DOT".Yes Lloyd's whole given name is Lloyd Lamar Green; but he wanted his wife Dot to be involved in the name of the "LDG" from Sho~bud.
The Sho~bud you see Lloyd playing in this video was the first pedal steel made for Lloyd and Jimmy Day and two others(sorry I forget)...each one had it's own Card Suit on the front...and you can see Lloyd got the Heart and I think Jimmy's was the diamond... and so on. These were 4 very special Sho~bud Permanents made very early 60's.

Thanks for posting this fine video Charley. How ‘bout that seat Lloyd is sitting on...appears to be a small barrel and he never missed a lick! 😉 Back then we would just grab a chair from the joint/club we were playing at. Carl |
