In an earlier post , I was inquiring about speaker polarity. My speaker has markings for + and -. Should this even matter? The signal is not a DC signal going to the speaker. It would appear that if the wires were reversed the only difference would be in the first 180 degrees of any signal passed to the speaker. the rest of the signal should have no impact on the speaker performance.

With only one speaker on a given amp it really doesn't matter IMHO.
One might wonder in the studio though whether the blend of two separate instruments might be different if one of their phases was reversed! If two speakers in the same amp can cancel each other out, then why can't two similar notes played on different instruments on the same recording do the same thing? |
