Where does the Pro I fit into the hiarchy of Sho-Buds as far as playability and tone? I am looking at one that has been rebuilt and therefore has the modern undercarriage.

Ken, I think mostly Pro Is were just single neck versions of Pro IIs. Like all Sho-Buds it had whatever parts they had laying around that they were trying to use up. But if it is rebuilt with modern parts, then it will be as good as those are. It was a pretty good sized body for a single neck. There is a sort of quarter shelf where the body of the inside neck would have started. If a single neck is all you want, I would think a Pro I with modern parts would be pretty good.

Randy - That third pedal doesn't look near as excited as the first two pedals!

Pro I's tend to be tone monsters. I had one and it was great. Would stil have it, but I wanted that second neck, so got a Professional to replace it.

I have a pro 1, in the shop being updated, and refinished Blue. It played very good before sending it off.

hey Lee. re: that third pedal. it came that way.

I am new to PSG. above the case I am making headway. what's underneath has me wondering. how can this work? all those rods and doohickeys. some have names now; like bellc cranks.
I need to know if the mechanics are in order. the notes etc. play fine.
the plastic covers on showing through the end plate are old and crumbly or missing.
they dont look like the ones pictured on that beautifully restored ShoBud posted above.
I am making connections with a few local steelers. I hope they can help.

that third pedal needs some stimulatin' for sure.
it works now, but doesnt feel right.
too new to know.

I do agree that this PSG is a tone monster. I love it.

I don't know man! Try loosening that locking doohickie at the end of the rod thingie, and screw that thingamajig on the bottom a up a smidge, and then re-tighten the locking whatsis. That'll raise that pedal doodad up into a more usable whatchamacallit.

If you're talking about the tuning nuts, don't just arbitrarily remove them all at once. Maybe replace them one at a time...
You can get new ones from many different Forum related sources.
